Palm announces launch of three new PDAs
Friday, September 20, 2002 9:44:06 AM ET Sep 20, 2002 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE) -- Palm Inc has announced the launch of its three new PDAs, a GBP70 consumer model, a Bluetooth enabled device and one with GPRS, all looking very different from previous Palms. The consumer model - code named Zire - will be sold through retail outlets from 7 October. It will have 2MB of RAM, run Palm OS 4.1 and have two hardware buttons instead of four. The Bluetooth device will free up a secure digital slot for other uses while the GPRS device - with always-on high speed Internet access - will be voice capable and data-centric according to the company. The PDA will enable the user to access data from Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino through a VPN. One of the two top-end PDAs will have Palm OS 5. The new operating system has been developed for ARM-based processors and offers support for bigger displays and Bluetooth and wireless networking. The two high speed PDAs will be available from 28 October. No pricing details were available. http://news.stockselector.com/newsar...ticle=60944060 |
