Thumbs up infrarood synchronisatie

Hallo!

Ik had problemen met synchronisatie via de IR port. De palm gaf een melding dat een andere aplication gebruik maakte van de IR port.
Hieronder de oplossing! Voor mij werkte dit perfect!!!!

Dear Marco,

Thank you very much for your inquiry.

I understand you are receiving an error message that the port is in use
by another device during Infrared HotSync(R) operation on your Palm(TM)
m505 handheld. I also understand that you wish for information on
Infrared HotSyncing.

Marco, you receive the error that port is in use if some of the drivers
do not release their control over the ports of the Desktop computer. I
suggest you to restart the computer. This will refresh all the ports.

If the issue persists, you will need to delete a specific file from your
computer, perform a
Hard Reset , and possibly rename the Backup folder. To re-establish a
HotSync connection, please follow the steps listed below:

*Delete the 'ConnectionMgrDB.pdb' file*

1. Double-click 'My Computer' on the Windows. Desktop, open the C:
Drive followed by the 'Palm' or 'Pilot' folder.

2. Locate and open your User folder. The name of the folder should be
a truncated version of your User name.

3. Open the folder called 'Backup'.

4. Right-click the file named 'ConnectionMgrDB.pdb' and select Delete.

NOTE: 'ConnectionMgrDB.pdb' may appear as 'ConnectionMgrDB' and the
icon should look like a Palm handheld with a green screen and red arrow
across it.

5. Perform a HotSync operation. If you receive the same error on the
Palm handheld, then please proceed with the Hard Reset instructions
below.

*Perform a Hard Reset *

NOTE: Performing a Hard Reset will erase all data on your Palm device.
We strongly suggest you back up necessary information before
proceeding.

1. Press and hold the Power button.

2. Gently depress the reset button on the back of the Palm handheld
with a small blunt object such as a paperclip, or your Palm reset tool
in the end of your stylus.

3. When the Palm logo screen appears, release the Power button.

4. A message should appear on the Palm handheld screen asking if you
wish to 'Erase all data'. Press the Up-scroll button for Yes, and
proceed to set up the Palm device by following the on-screen
instructions.

5. If you do not receive the 'Erase all data' screen, repeat steps one
through four.

Before performing a HotSync operation, we suggest changing the Outlook
Date
Book, Outlook Address Book, Outlook Memo Pad and Outlook To Do List
conduit actions to 'Desktop
overwrites handheld', using the HotSync Manager menu and the 'Custom'
option. Once the conduit actions have been modified, perform a HotSync
operation.

If the steps above did not resolve the issue, you should perform
another Hard Reset and rename the 'Backup' folder. This will prevent
Third-Party applications from transferring to the Palm handheld during
the HotSync operation. You will need to re-install any add-on
applications using the Palm Install Tool. To rename the Backup folder,
please follow the directions below:

*Rename the 'Backup' folder*

1. Double-click My Computer on the Windows Desktop, open the C: Drive
followed by the 'Palm' or 'Pilot' folder.

2. Locate and open your User folder. The name of the folder should be
a truncated version of your User name.

3. Right-click the 'Backup' folder, select Rename, and type 'Backup2';
press [Enter].

To restore the data to the Palm handheld, in the HotSync Manager menu,
choose 'Custom', and adjust the conduit actions to 'Desktop overwrites
handheld' for the Date Book, Address Book, Memo Pad, and To Do List for
the next HotSync operation.

Also, I suggest that you follow the instructions provided in this mail
to perform an IR HotSync operation under Windows 2000

To enable IR HotSync:

1. Exit the HotSync Manager application by clicking on the icon in the
Task Bar and choosing exit.

2. Click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel and double click the
"Wireless Link" icon.

3. In the "Image transfer" tab, uncheck the box for "Use Wireless Link
to transfer images from a digital camera to your computer".

4. Disable any other application you use that opens the IR port.

5. Restart HotSync Manager.

6. Click on the HotSync Manager icon in the Task bar and check the
"Infrared" menu item.

<<How to verify the version of the Palm OS software>>

1. Tap the Home icon to see the main application screen on the Palm
handheld.

2. Tap Menu, select Info, and tap Version. This will display the Palm
OS software version.

If you do not have Palm OS software version 3.3 or higher, you can
upgrade your Palm OS software at the following URL:

http://www.palm.com/support/33upgrade/

If you have confirmed you have Palm OS software version 3.3 or higher:

1. Tap Done. This will take you back to the main application screen on
your Palm handheld.

2. Tap the HotSync icon, then tap Local.

3. Tap the drop-down arrow below the HotSync icon, and choose 'IR to a
PC/Handheld'.

Your Palm handheld is now ready to perform an Infrared HotSync
operation.

<<Setting up the computer for an Infrared HotSync>>

Since you are using Windows 2000, we suggest the HotSync Manager 3.1.1
Updater, or downloading Palm Desktop 4.0.1 with HotSync Manager 4.0 at
the following URL:

http://www.palm.com/support/windt.html

<<Setting up HotSync Manager for an Infrared HotSync operation>>

When using Infrared, you first need to verify the COM number being used
by the Infrared port on the computer. This is done through the Device
Manager. Please follow the steps below to get to the Device Manager,
depending on which version of Windows you are using.

NOTE: When searching for the COM number with the instructions below, it
is not always displayed. Depending on your computer, you may just see
'Virtual Port' listed for the Infrared Device. If this is the case,
please use COM4 in the HotSync Manager setup steps, as this is most
often the COM number associated with an Infrared port. If you do not
have COM4 available, and cannot see a number listed, please contact your
computer manufacturer for further assistance.

*Windows 2000*

1. Right-click My Computer, and select Properties.

2. Choose the Hardware tab, then Device Manager.

3. Scroll down to Ports, click on the plus (+) sign to expand Ports.
This will show you the COM number being used by the Infrared port on
the computer.

4. Close all windows, and proceed to 'How to verify the version of
HotSync Manager'.

Once the COM number has been verified in the Device Manager, this number
must be entered into the HotSync Manager Setup to begin communications
between the Infrared devices. The version of HotSync Manager needs to
be verified to continue with the setup.

<<How to verify the version of HotSync Manager>>

1. Left-click the HotSync Manager icon in the lower-right corner of
your computer screen.

2. Select About. This will show you the version of HotSync Manager.

*If HotSync Manager version is 3.1.1 or newer*

1. Left-click HotSync Manager.

2. Click Infrared. This will place a checkmark next to Infrared.

3. Left-click HotSync Manager icon again, and choose Setup.

4. Select the Local tab. For the Serial port, use the drop-down arrow
to select the appropriate COM number for the Infrared port. (This
was verified in the Device Manager.)

5. Perform a HotSync operation by initiating the synchronization on the
Palm handheld, then place the Palm device in line with the Infrared
port on the computer.

Note: The Palm handheld should be roughly two to four inches from the IR
port. If you receive 'Waiting for Sender' on the Palm handheld, tap
cancel and then synchronize.

*If HotSync Manager version is older than 3.1.1*

1. Left-click the HotSync Manager icon.

2. Click Local. This will place a checkmark next to Local.

3. Left-click HotSync Manager again; choose Setup.

4. Select the Local tab. For the Serial port, use the drop-down arrow
to select the appropriate COM number for the Infrared port. (This
was verified in the Device Manager)

Note: The Palm handheld should be roughly two to four inches from the
Infrared port. If you receive 'Waiting for Sender' on the Palm handheld,
tap cancel and then synchronize.

Angry infrarood lukt niet meer na backup

Hoi,

Aangezien ik sinds kort een laptop heb wil ik kunnen syncen via infrarood.
Dit lukte niet omdat de poort in gebruik is.

Na het lezen van dit bestand: If the issue persists, you will need to delete a specific file from your
computer, perform a
Hard Reset , and possibly rename the Backup folder. To re-establish a
HotSync connection, please follow the steps listed below:

*Delete the 'ConnectionMgrDB.pdb' file* enz enz............
