Ik probeer avantgo te gebruiken op Palm III, NT 4.0
Installatie, etc : OK Echter bij configuratie/autodetect krijg ik MAL Server result: Failure with error 5479. ERROR! NTLM Authentication not supported.

For those trying to use AvantGo through an NTLM proxy this may help:- I have notified the tech support at AvantGo, but I don't know if they've published the info anywhere. I managed to get it working by using a piece of software called the Microsoft Winsock Proxy Client. To install this on your machine open a normal explorer window onto your proxy server, open the mspclnt directory, and run setup. This will install the proxy client software. Next disable the use proxy option in AvantGo and restart your machine. The next time you synchronise AvantGo will go through the proxy client, that will do the NTLM authentication and all should be well." |

Wat ik terug kreeg van Avantgo support. Ondertussen ga ik eens met WSP experimenteren al begrijp ik dat stuk niet echt goed
Hello Marc, Unfortunately, your test reveals that you are using an NTLM proxy server. NTLM is a proprietary Microsoft proxy authentication system that we do not currently support. In the coming months, we will be offering a beta version of AvantGo that will try and resolve this issue. If you are interested in applying for our beta program, please reply to this E-mail and let us know. We will place your information on a list of possibly canidates and will notify if you are chosen to be one of our beta testing candidates. In the meantime, we suggest that you contact your network administrator to determine if there is a non-Microsoft proxy server through which you can access the Internet or ask them to enable basic proxy authentication. If available, you can add our software to a computer that is not on this network. Otherwise, our software will be unusable by you until our software supports NTLM. |

3. Firewalls If you're using AvantGo at your place of business and your company accesses the Internet through a firewall or a proxy server, you may need to set up proxy server information. A proxy server is a computer on your company's local network. All requests to access the Internet are relayed through this server. Because AvantGo accesses the Internet, you must set up access through your company's proxy server if your company uses one. During the setup process, you configure AvantGo to use your proxy server. AvantGo Connect (tm) looks at how your desktop browser is configured and configures itself the same way. If your browser is incorrect or AvantGo Connect (tm) is unable to find the information, you may have to configure this manually. To manually configure the AvantGo Connect (tm) connection setup: 1. Select Start | Settings | Control Panel | AvantGo Connect. Enter the names of the servers that do not use proxies (exceptions to the HTTP and SOCKS settings) in the Exceptions field. Use a semicolon to separate the addresses of the servers. For example, you may be required to sync via a proxy at work, but from home you may enable a public server on the Web that does not require the use of the proxy server. Some servers may exist inside a firewall and do not require access to the Internet via a proxy server. Click OK. 2. Click the Connection tab. The proxy settings appear. 3. Click Change. The Advanced Connection Settings dialog appears. 4. Enter the necessary information in the Servers box. Your system administrator has all the necessary information. 5. If your proxy server uses the HTTP protocol, enter information in the HTTP Address and Port fields. Do not use http in the Address field. The address is a unique computer location on the Internet expressed as a unique string of numbers or as its associated domain name (e.g., 206.132.58.33 or avantgo.com). When you enter information in the Port field, the Use HTTP authentication field is enabled. 6. Check the Use HTTP authentication box to enable user name and password protection 7. If you enable Use HTTP authentication, enter your user name and password for the server you entered in the Address field. Passwords are often case sensitive and must exactly match what you provided the server. Enter the new or existing password you provided to the server in the New password field. 8. If your proxy uses a secure protocol, enter information in the Secure and Port fields. 9. 10. Click OK. |
