Sony Clie TG50 + Vodafone GPRS +Nokia 6310i
First I would like to say what a great board this is. It never fails to amaze me the amount of info that can be found from helpful people on the internet.
Now on to the problem. When trying to connect a clie PEG-TG50 to internet using nokia 6310i via bluetooth with a gprs enabled vodafone corporate pack plus account the following happens when selecting connect: Bluetooth connection is made between gsm and clie "dailing" (clie display) "signing on " starts (clie display) "gprs verbinding wordt gelegd" (nokia display) STOP error "meld U aan bij grps" (nokia display) "error PPP timeout (0x1231)" (clie display) I’ve been reading the info on this board and have found some similar types of problems but no solution yet. Does anybody have this combination working or maybe an idea of what I can do to get it set up? Vodafone gprs helpdesk tells me that they don’t support the Clie TG50 and they have no information for that model. They do think it will work with the proper settings.??? Here are the settings I have created: >On the nokia 6310i (dutch language) - Diensten - Instellingen - Actieve Dienst Instellingen "gprs wap" - Homepage "http://mmm.vodafone.nl" - Sessiemodus "doorlopend" - Verbinding beveiligen "uit" - Drager gegevens "GPRS" - GPRS-verbinding "wanneer nodig" - GPRS toegangspunt "web.vodafone.nl" - Ip-adres "192.168.251.150" - Verificatietype "normal" - Login-type "automatisch" - Gebruikersnaam "vodafone" - Wachtwoord "vodafone" These settings work using the nokia to open a page also I have this same nokia set up with a bluetooth pcmcia card connecting via gprs to the internet on a laptop. So gprs works on this sim card with this phone. >On the Sony Clie TG50 (english language) Main screen - setting - prefs - network Created new service named "vodafone gprs" service: vodafone gprs Username: vodafone password: vodafone connection: gprs phone: *99# -Details Connection type: ppp Idle timeout: never Query DNS: checked ip address: automatic - Script No script (first line is end) Main screen - setting - prefs - connections grps connection selected Connect to: modem via: bluetooth device: nokia 6310i dialing: touch tone volume: low -Details speed: 115.200bps flow ctl: automatic init string: at+cgdcont=1,"ip","internet" That’s what it set at now please if anyone has a hint or a definite solution please respond. Answer in Dutch or English (whatever is easier for you) I can read Dutch but to type this out in Dutch would have been a mess of spelling mistakes. Alvast Bedank |

try this?
Perhaps you have read my bluetooth- tg50 settings, now also translated into English.
Look at http://www.xs4all.nl/~alicedj/bluetooth/english.html On avarage, the phone helpdesks are horrible. I don't think they know what they are talking about, these forums are much better helping you out. They should in fact put up the right settings for mobile internet on their website, it just takes too long figuring it all out by yourself. Then when you call them, they never know what mobile devices do WHAT and they quickly tell you they don't support anything. Good luck trying. kattebelletje |

Thanks kattebelletje
I just read your response and will try your suggestion later today. You had mentioned and int string of: X1E0+CMEE;+CSCS="GSM";+CNMI=3,1,2,0,0;V1 which I have not tried yet. Is this a Clie specific string or is it for different grps providers? I noticed you mentioned setting up 2 gprs providers, T-mobile and O2, but we are using Vodafone. We have also tried without an int string, also with no luck. Thanks again I will post my results here once I've tried your suggestions. Cheers |

init string
Actually, I wouldn't quite know. To get mobile, I surfed the internet to find answers, and everything came toghether from bits and pieces. I am not sure whether I need the init string or not, but I am so happy it all works now that I don't want to change anything. Also, I hope the Clie doesn't crash to the point of a hard reset .
Anyway. The two providers are there because I switched providers with my phone. I had had them send some settings to my phone automatically, so that's why. ANd this made the settings on the Clie a little different. The message on your phone "meld u aan bij GPRS" looks like a message as though your phone doesn't have a validated GPRS-account through Vodaphone. Are you sure they 'switched' this on? Is it in your corporate account? Anyone there to help you at work? Good luck trying. I translated my "how to.." into English, by the way: http://www.xs4all.nl/~alicedj/bluetooth/english.html bye for now kattebelletje |

Ok i have the solution and it is very simple.
Reset phone settings to default so all settings I had originally made are reset to factory settings. Im not sure how to do this easily as I am now using a new phone and did not need to change anything back but I'm would think if you read the nokia documentation there is a standard reset method somewhere. So with standard phone settings on the nokia now on the Clie create connection and network settings as follows: >>>>>Create a new gprs connection: Name:GPRS Connect to: modem via: bluetooth device: nokia 6310i dialing: touch tone volume: low -Details speed: 115.200bps flow ctl: automatic Init String: (leave blank) >>>>>Create a new network service: Service: gprs Username: vodafone password: vodafone connection: GPRS phone: *99***1# -DETAILS Connection type: ppp Idle timeout: never Query DNS: checked ip address: automatic - Script No script (first line is end) Thats it. Works for fine for me everytime. Hope this might help someone. Cheers |
