Nieuwe concurrent voor Palm en Pocket PC?
Op www.oqo.com zag ik de OQO Ultra-Personal Computer, een full-power, full-feature Windows XP PC met het formaat van een PDA.
Op de website van OQO valt te lezen: Headquartered in San Francisco, Calif., OQO(tm) Corporation is the developer of the OQO Ultra-Personal Computer, a full-power, full-feature Windows XP PC that can be carried in the pocket as easily as a cellular phone. In 1999, Jory Bell, Jonathan Betts-Lacroix and other members of the team that developed the Apple Titanium powerbook, set out to construct a Windows PC that you could carry wherever you go. In 2002, OQO introduced the first implementation of its Ultra-Personal Computer, refining the PC form factor to its lightest and most versatile; creating a powerful modular Windows XP PC that fits in one hand and also provides high-speed wireless access. The first product will be available in the first half of 2003. The OQO is a complete Windows XP wireless handheld computer with: • an OQO-designed cradle to dock with a keyboard and monitor, transforming the OQO to a full feature desktop machine • an OQO-designed mobile enclosure that lets you take a high performance notebook computer with you anywhere • an OQO-link dongle to make presentations with any LCD projector or to connect to USB and IEEE1394/FireWire peripherals • media player mode with enough memory for 1000 songs or three feature length movies • optimization for cool running and miserly power consumption • Powered by Crusoe 0.13 micron TM5800 processor at up to 1GHz • 10GB or 20GB hard drive with storage for thousands of songs or three full length movies • 256MB memory • four inch, high-resolution super bright VGA color LCD • Synaptics touchscreen • Advanced lithium polymer battery • 1394 FireWire, USB, audio out, OQO-link docking connector, microphone • Built in 802.11 and Bluetooth wireless networking • 4.1" x 2.9" x 0.9" / 105mm x 74mm x 22mm; less than 9 oz. / 250 grams Als ik een Palm- of Pocket PC-fabrikant was zou ik me nu even achter mijn oren krabben...
