Bij Tapwave ligt het wat ingewikkelder en het verdient een nuancering. Lees het volgende artikel:

Het falen van de Zodiac ligt niet in het feit dat er weinig Zodiacs verkocht zijn (in de periode oktober 2003 - mei 2005 zijn er ongeveer 100.000 Zodiac's verkocht), maar meer in het feit dat de ontwikkelaars die in eerst instantie deals met Tapwave hadden afgesloten stiekem ook deals met Sony (voor de PSP) afsloten en toch eerst de software voor de PSP gingen ontwikkelen.

Except they didn't. I believe it was only a day or so after the Tapwave launch that Sony announced the PSP. Without inside information, this was a real surprise. Nobody was expecting Sony to try to get into handhelds for games. Suddenly half of that middle ground - a games device for adults - vanished beneath poor Tapwave's feet, leaving them holding a coyote-esque "Oh no" sign. The only hope was that the PDA Games side could support them. Maybe that's a parachute in the backpack, not an anvil?

- Opkomst PSP
- Prijs t.o.v. doelgroep ($400, voor 16 t/m 28 jr.)
- DRM
- Software voor de Tapwave moest aangepast worden om Tapwave only te zijn
