1. Why is Palm using an old limited edition of MulltiMailPro in the MIK

The version of MultiMail included in the Mobile Internet Kit is MultiMail Pro 2.26. The latest release of MultiMail is MultiMail Pro 3.1. Palm's primary concern when developing the Mobile Internet Kit was to provide European customers with a localised version of MultiMail Pro. At the time of the Mobile Internet Kit's release, the latest localised version of MultiMail Pro was 2.26. You can find the lastest version of MultiMail Pro 3.1 on ActualSoft's web site.

2. Why can't you get the upgrade to OS 3.5 for free?

The possibility of up-grading the operating system of a Palm handheld adds new, innovative functionality without having to re-invest in new hardware (ie. new product). Other handheld manufactures may not offer an up-grade but invite users to send in their handhelds and pay for a, sometimes costly, replacement of the ROM! Palm's solution is to offer an affordable software upgrade that takes about
10 minutes to install. In the past, Palm has provided free OS up-grades, but has decided to charge a nominal fee this time (and possibly going forward) to reflect the time invested in creating increased functionality and therefore value in these releases.
