Nieuwe versie Cetus GPS

Een van de programma's die ik heb besproken in mijn GPS review, is het programma Cetus GPS, ook wel bekend als Pathfinder. Van dit freeware programma is inmiddels weer een nieuwe versie verschenen, te vinden op http://www.cetus.dk/GPS

A new version 1.0b14 along with new TrackLog export utilities for DOS,
Linux, Mac OS and Mac OS X are available at the Cetus GPS homepage.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You must delete any previously installed version of Cetus
GPS using the Launcher delete function before installing 1.0b14. Otherwise
you may get a fatal error when selecting "Preferences".

There are some chances in 1.0b14. You can find a complete list at the
"Release History" document on the homepage. The major improvements and
changes are:

- Support for expansion card GPS unit (so far tested with the Pretec
CompactGPS which fits the HandEra 330)

- The Userguide has been finished although it probably still has some
linguistic and spelling errors due to the fact that english is not my
native language. Thank you to Graeme Bilton from the UK who proof-read the document and corrected some of the worst errors.

- Support for position and track XML format. These options are not really worth much yet, but I do work together with other developers to define a common interchange standard for GPS data which some of you may have heard of at the usenet sci.geo.satellite-nav newsgroup. At some point this means that data from Cetus GPS may be imported easily into quite a few other apps.

- some users who's GPS only transmits the RMC sentence will not be able to use the new version due to some changes in the NMEA parser. As far as I know all GPS can be configured to transmit both the RMC and GGA sentences, but I do not have enough information about this to implement it into Cetus GPS yet. The solution is therefore to find out how to configure your GPS (and send me a copy of the information) or use Cetus GPS 1.0b12.
